Something was obviously missing on the boat. When going forward on deck, especially out at sea, there was not a handhold that really was strong enough to feel safe. I asked Hans at Ship Shape in Stavanger to help me, in 2021 actually, and he built a very solid frame from 30 mm stainless steel tube. This also makes a good point on which to tie safety lines. For moving around in the cockpit, or standing up steering, it is only an arm’s length away. It feels like a key strong point on deck. Not exactly cheap, it is however one of the best investments I have made on the boat. And for the grandchildren, a fun swing bar!
